Light Music Club

INSERT COOL BANNER PIC

👋 Hello!

The Light Music Club (LMC) appreciates music from J-pop, anime, and video games through live concerts, jam sessions, and online recording projects. We are a student-led club providing a space for players of all backgrounds to create and play music together. The LMC and Studio are branches of the University of Toronto Student Anime & Manga Association (UT-SAMA) based in the St. George campus.

2025 End of Fall Concert

We’re proud to announce some cool concert! We’ll be playing songs by XX and XXX.

It’s at XX:XX pm at 252 Bloor Street West (OISE, room XXX)! Tickets are $XX. Pay online or in-person or something.

History

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away, UTSAMA was called UTAMA, and the UTAMA LMC existed. It was an audition-based rock band? But it kind of died during COVID-19. In 2023, Stone, Sean, and Alexis were cool and decided to revive the LMC into its current form today.

Our club now aims to be a big space both in Toronto and online for people to find like-minded musicians, make friends, form rock bands or mini-orchestral ensembles and play music from anime, video games, J-Pop, etc., either through performing at concerts or producing project recordings.

Repertoire Archive

The LMC repertoire features two types of projects. Large ensemble projects involve many players and varied instrument groups; owing to their scope and complexity, they are decided by popular vote before the term starts and centrally coordinated by the club. Small ensemble projects are self-initiated and lead by motivated LMC members who coordinate song-writing and rehearsals (or recordings) with club support.

Location

Large ensemble rehearsals take place at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at 252 Bloor Street West, in room C154 underground.

The building is directly connected to the subway via the Bedford Road exit at St. George station, which leads to floor C. There is also vehicle parking and bicycle parking. See the OISE website for details.

We have historically performed concerts at the OISE Auditorium and the Cat's Eye in the Goldring Student Centre (150 Charles Street West) at Victoria College.

Concerts

The LMC typically holds live concerts twice a year near the end of the University of Toronto’s fall and winter semesters, where we showcase music from large ensembles, small ensembles, and recording projects. Live attendance costs money, but recordings of our previous concerts are freely available on our Youtube channel.

Below is an archive of past concert setlists, posters, videos, and pictures.
